FAYETTEVILLE - Restructuring continued for the Razorback Foundation on Monday.
Harold Horton was officially announced as the new executive for the private fund-raising arm of the university athletic department. Among Horton's first duties as foundation president was to name Sean Rochelle as associate director of the Razorback Foundation.
Rochelle, a native of Elkins, has been serving as athletic director for development for the Razorbacks. Horton had previously served as a vice president within the Foundation.
Board members voted on Saturday to replace president Chuck Dicus after 17 years. Ken Mourton, chairman of the Foundation Board, confirmed the decision in a press release on Monday.
"The board of directors felt it was the appropriate time to move forward under new leadership," Mourton said. "We appreciate the contributions and service of Chuck Dicus in his tenure with the Foundation."
Horton, who is in his 11th year with the Razorback Foundation, is a former player and coach for Arkansas. His relationships within the state were seen as an asset to board members.
Prior to Monday's Arkansas-Campbellsville exhibition game, Horton said it was "an honor" to be named executive director. He declined to discuss the matter further, but was quoted in a statement released by Mourton.
"The Razorbacks have always been an integral part of my life," Horton said. "I look forward to continuing to work with the Razorback Foundation Board... I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the Razorbacks in this new role."
Rochelle's new role comes just months after being named the athletic department's assistant athletic director for development. Rochelle, an Elkins native who was hired as the development director for women's athletics in 2007, took the position when the men's and women's athletic departments combined.
