ALABAMA
Troubled Alabama linebacker Prince Hall is working his way back into Nick Saban's good graces. Hall missed the entire spring for violating team drills, but is back and practicing as he finishes an on-field suspension that should conclude Sept. 20 against Arkansas.
ARKANSAS
Tackling. Missed assignments. Poor execution. Anything that could have gone wrong for the Arkansas defense seemed to in the first scrimmage of the preseason. Defensive coordinator Willy Robinson points to the team's lack of "mental toughness."
AUBURN
Looks like the Tigers have a good old fashioned quarterback controversy going on. Fort Smith Northside product Kodi Burns is one of two candidates for the starting job in Auburn's revamped, no-huddle, Spread.
LSU
Coach Les Miles saw little he liked from the Tigers first scrimmage of the fall. The defending national champions weren't in top form, Miles told reporters.
MISSISSIPPI STATE
Sylvester Croom's search for "leaders" has yielded at least one player. Safety Keith Fitzhugh increased his efforts in the weight room and appears to be buying in to what Croom is looking for.
OLE MISS
Oxford, Miss. is "Nutts About the Rebels." That's the slogan adopted by Ole Miss fans, who are expecting an old fashioned program revival under Houston Nutt.

FLORIDA
Urban Meyer has big plans for fullback Kethan Moore in this year’s offense. Moore will be more than just a blocker for the Gators, who like to utilize all their offensive options.
GEORGIA
With left tackle Trinton Sturdivant out because of a season-ending knee injury, the Bulldogs have been forced to revamp their offensive line. Sturdivant was injured Monday and Georgia has been holding tryouts for his spot since.
KENTUCKY
There was little doubt Wildcats freshman Chandler Burden would see the field this year. The 6-5, 290-pounder just isn’t where most folks expected him. Burden has been moved from offensive line to defense and could be a force at end.
SOUTH CAROLINA
While Jamon Meredith sits an NCAA-mandated two games, South Carolina is searching for left tackle prospects. Meredith was able to redshirt after playing two games his freshmen year, provided he missed the first two games of his final year.
TENNESSEE
Volunteer skill players just want some space. That’s what they hope to get in new offensive coordinator Dave Clawson’s offense, designed to get receivers and running backs plenty of room to operate.
VANDERBILT
Not a single Vanderbilt player has rushed for 1,000 yards the past 12 seasons. Coach Bobby Johnson prefers rotating his running backs and spreading the ball — and yards — around.
