Ryan Mallett has his sights set on the most prestigious awards a college quarterback can win.
Not the Heisman Trohpy. He's thinking of a BCS national championship for the Razorbacks, despite what others might think of that goal.
Asked on College Football Live if he'd thought about what winning a Heisman Trohpy would mean, Mallett quickly changed the subject Wednesday afternoon on host John Saunders.
"That'd be a great honor. The trophy I'm more worried about is that crystal ball you get to hold up at the end of the year. That's what we're worried about in Fayetteville," Mallett said.
Mallett's response drew a chuckle from a stunned Saunders, who replied, "If you're holding it up, I'll be standing right beside you." ESPN will host the 2011 BCS title game on Jan. 10.
That prompted exactly the sort of response you'd expect from the hyper-competitive Mallett.
"Let's set a date then," Mallett said. "Let's set a date then."
