Arkansas forward Marshawn Powell has been selected to participate in this week's LeBron James Skills Academy.
It’s been a busy summer for Arkansas forward Marshawn Powell.
Powell, a 6-foot-7 sophomomre, is one of 23 players taking part this week in the LeBron James Skills Academy. Powell attended the Kevin Durant Skills Academy in June.
Arkansas coach John Pelphrey had this to say about Powell’s participation:
“Every time a player goes to one of these camps, they come back a better player. Marshawn did a tremendous job for us as a freshman and we are looking for him to be even better as a sophomore. I have always said that Marshawn is one of the hardest working players that we have and he has proved that with great workouts in the weight room this summer. He’ll take that same attitude to this camp and emerge with a new set of skills for next season.”
According to a UA release, Powell was chosen for the LeBron James camp based on his performance at the Kevin Durant academy. Powell joined Alec Burks (Colorado), Chandler Parsons (Florida), Kyle Singler (Duke), Chris Singleton (Florida St.) and Chris Wright (Georgetown) at both camps.
Powell averaged averaged 14.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and was also named to the all-SEC freshman team.
