ESPN The Magazine's Amy K. Nelson reports that Cliff Lee has been traded from Seattle to the American League West Division leader Texas Rangers.
Talk of Lee's inevitable departure from Seattle had centered lately on which team would claim him from the Mariners. Minnesota, the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees had all been considered contenders.
Lee pitched for Philadelphia in 2009, winning Game 1 of the World Series against the New York Yankees, who eventually became the national champions. He was traded in a three-way deal to Seattle that gave the Phillies Roy Halladay.
Lee is the 2008 Cy Young Award winner. He is a native of Saline County and currently owns a house with his wife in Little Rock.
