Former UALR/Little Rock Parkview star Derek Fisher recently told reporters in China that he would consider playing there now that his Los Angeles Lakers’ contract has ended.
Miami might also be in the mix, according to a number of reports. Sports by Brooks has pictures of Fisher meeting with Pat Riley and other Heat officials in Miami on Saturday. (They’re grainy photos, but photos nonetheless).
Surely, playing with LeBron James, Dewayne Wade and Chris Bosh would be a more attractive option than whomever Fisher would be teamed with in China.
Of course, Sports by Brooks makes a great point: Fisher might be doing all of this solely to get the Lakers on board with signing him for the money he wants.
Fisher has been a key component to the Lakers’ recent NBA title success. Kobe Bryant is among those who want to see Fisher back in Los Angeles, but the LA Times reports talks between Fisher and the team are “at an impasse.”
What’s holding up Fisher re-signing with the Lakers? He’s 35 years old and could be nearing the end of his career.
