Roderick Ryles

According to Otis Kirk, Arkansas has dipped into Florida for commitment No. 12 with Orlando Dr. Phillips safety Roderick Ryles (6-1, 185, 4.5). Ryles chose Arkansas after attending the camp in Fayetteville on Saturday. The Orlando Sentinel quoted the "man of few words" as saying, "The coaching staff is cool. They let you know how it is without sugar coating (anything)... Everything from the campus to the player(s) to the citizens, to the restaurants, everything (was) just lovely."

We heard about this tough love recruiting "without sugar coating" last month when offensive coordinator Garrick McGee told ArkansasSports360.com that his secret for recruiting is telling the truth. It's a wacky concept, but it seems to be working. They say you attract more flies with honey, but honestly, who wants a bunch of flies in your house?

Ryles' teammate, safety-outside linebacker LaQuentin Williams (6-1 1/2, 215, 4.5), may be the next to pull the trigger on an offer as well. It'll be interesting to see if he also likes things sugar-free.
