Cox, Smyly, Eibner Sign With Pro Teams

8/17/2010 at 7:54am

As expected Arkansas took a hit in the MLB Draft. Below is a look at which former Razorbacks and a local recruit that signed with them are moving on to begin pro baseball careers.

*3B Zack Cox inked a $3.2 million, four-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.

*OF/P Brett Eibner signed for $1.2 million with the Kansas City Royals at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale.

*P Drew Smyly signed a $1.1 million deal with the Detroit Tigers.

*P Ben Wells  (Bryant) signed for $530,000 with the Chicago Cubs.

Arkansas will apparently get OF Collin Kuhn back. He was drafted in the 15th round by the Detroit Tigers, but did not come to terms with the organization.
