The Brandon Burlsworth Trophy will be presented each year to the top walk-on in the country. The award is named in honor of former Razorback walk-on turned all-American Brandon Burlsworth.

Brandon Burlsworth’s story has been a source of inspiration in Arkansas for more than a decade. His legacy will now live on in the form of the Burlsworth Trophy, an award that will be given annually to a player that began his college football career as a walk-on.

Organizers are using the story of Burlsworth, the University of Arkansas walk-on turned all-American, for one of the newest awards in college football. Burlsworth died April 29, 1999 in a car accident while on the way back to visit his mother in Harrison.

The Burlsworth Trophy was formally annoucned Monday at a press conference in the UA 'A' Club.

The Burlsworth Trophy Awards ceremony will be held Feb. 7 at the Holiday Inn Northwest Arkansas Convention Center.

Committee members include: former Razorback coaches Frank Broyles, Danny Ford, Ken Hatfield, former Indianapolis Colts offensive line coach Howard Mudd former UA player and booster Jim Lindsey, former Atlanta Falcons/Denver Broncos coach Dan Reeves and Harrison coach Tommy Tice.
