Springdale's Pianalto Praised Despite Drops

9/6/2010 at 10:20pm

Former Springdale High tight end Zack Pianalto dropped a pair of passes Saturday in North Carolina’s 30-24 loss to LSU. Pianalto’s final drop could have tied the game.

But Charlotte Observer columnist Scott Fowler was praising Pianalto’s performance. We’ll let Fowler take it from here…

So Pianalto dropped the ball. Twice. So what?

We all do stuff like that. The big question is how we react to it once we do it.

Pianalto reacted so well that he made me forget, for a while at least, the one other thing that will always be remembered about this game - the 13 players who weren't there playing for the Tar Heels, and why they missed the contest.

You'll notice I didn't mention anything about the Tar Heels' biggest football issue in this column - far bigger than one loss to LSU. And for this one day, I've decided I'm not going to.

You're welcome, Tar Heels fans. You can thank Zack Pianalto for that, as well as for all the rest of the good work he did this Labor Day weekend even when things went bad.

Pianalto finished the game with eight catches for 74 yards.
