ROGERS - Heavy rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine has led to the cancellation of the Pro-Am rounds of the LPGA's P&G Northwest Arkansas Championship in Rogers.
The tournament issued a statement Thursday saying the rounds were canceled to ensure the safety of those involved and to maintain playing conditions of the course.
Practice facilities are to open at noon Thursday for the LPGA players. The tournament is Friday through Sunday at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.
The National Weather Service in Tulsa said three to five inches of rain had fallen in northwestern Arkansas since midnight as remnants of the storm moved through the area. The weather service said the rain has since moved farther east into north-central Arkansas and south-central Missouri.
