Tennessee Volunteers

9/10/2010 at 9:15am

Tennessee is feeling the breath of the NCAA upon its furry back once again, and this time, it appears that Lane Kiffin isn't to blame. (This time.)

Sources tell Chris Low of ESPN that the NCAA is looking into the phone records of the Volunteers basketball program, checking out what may be excessive phone calls to recruits and the use of unauthorized phones being used to call said recruits.

No official inquiry has been sent and the reasons for the sudden investigations may stem from NCAA interest in Josh Selby, a Kansas freshman who had been recruited by Bruce Pearl and the Volunteers. Selby may have retained a professional agent to guide him through the recruiting process. Selby claims the agent was a "friendly adviser."

With no official inquiry, Tennessee officials aren't commenting. At this point, we're beginning to feel a little speechless toward Tennessee too.
