Auburn-Arkansas Officiating Has Inspired A Parody Song (And It's Actually Not Awful)

10/20/2010 at 9:20am

There are a lot of college football related cover songs and parodies out there these days. Most are awful.

This one — called “Blame It (On the Bad Call)” strikes me as particularly un-terrible and it’s quite timely, focusing on the questionable officiating in Saturday’s Arkansas-Auburn game.

It is a parody of  — Jamie Foxx’s  “Blame It (On the Alcohol)."

Considering how awful these things can be, calling it “particularly un-terrible” is significant. It's actually funny and unlike a couple of local parodies we've heard, these guys aren't taking themselves too seriously. That is the point of a parody, right?

And as the folks who made the song point out (So Fo Real Productions), they’re not a fan of any team, they’re just tired of ba-aaa-a-aaa-ad calls.
