UPDATE: Scalped! Little Rock Police Arrest 3 for Selling Tickets at Arkansas-LSU Game

11/30/2010 at 2:27pm

Our post last week on ticket scalping was real News You Can Use if, you know, you're looking to avoid being arrested. Unfortunately, three of you must've missed it.

Little Rock Police said Tuesday that its vice squad made three arrests for scalping outside War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock on Saturday, just before the Arkansas-LSU game.

According to police, those arrested were:

  • Edgar Caves, B/M, DOB: 11-07-60, of 200 Jelison, #115, Duncanville, Texas. Mr. Caves was charged with 2 counts of Ticket Scalping.
  • Lloyd Blasingame, W/M, DOB: 01-21-82, of 1 Betsy Lane, Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. Blasingame was charged with one count of Ticket Scalping.
  • Houston Spencer, B/M, DOB: 06-04-54, of 2767 Weaverly, #4, Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Spencer was charged with two counts of Ticket Scalping.

Police provided no other details and apparently, according to the Arkansas Times, they're not going to (Update: They did! See below).

But if you still need a quick overview on the legal ins and outs, we refer you to last week's item, including a special note from the Attorney General's office.

Meanwhile: What about your ticketing experiences? Were you among the many seeking last-minute, aftermarket tickets? If so, please let us know how you did and how much you paid -- anonymously if you'd like -- in comments. Or: E-mail me here and I'll add to the post. Your secret's safe with me.

UPDATE: Police sent us reports from the arrests. Here's some more details:

Each of the men were arrested by undercover police officers trying to buy game tickets. According to the report, Caves tried to sell his two tickets for $200 each. Spencer, after telling the undercover officer that some people were selling tickets for $500 and that police were working the game, tried to sell his two tickets to police for $150 each.

Blasingame tried a different tactic, according to the report. He offered the undercover officer a lighter for $300, saying he'd throw a game ticket in for free. Obviously, it didn't work.

Face value of all the tickets? $65.
