Ole Miss

10/14/2011 at 8:52am

It was going to be too easy to put unranked Mississippi into the Outhouse prior to the Rebels' meeting with No. 1 Alabama. The game, in Oxford and on ESPN2, should be – and we're just guessing out loud here – a bloodbath. Yes, Ole Miss Rebels Black Bear Head Coach Houston Nutt has trademarked big wins against insurmountable Goliaths as his career motif, but this weekend ain't going to be one of them.

Ole Miss isn't going to get the win now especially since four offensive players have been suspended. Running back Brandon Bolden, center A.J. Hawkins, receiver Philander Moore and guard Alex Washington have all been put on the tiles for this weekend after Nutt learned of an infraction Wednesday night that the four had broken "team rules".

There are two times when you'll see a coach make mass suspensions like this: Right before a cupcake game against Compass Direction A&M Tech or right before a massive behemoth of an opponent comes to town and you have no chance of winning anyway.

We can hear it now, if the game is decided by four touchdowns or less: "If only we had a Brandon Bolden out there to run the ball or an A.J. Hawkins to handle those snaps..." And with Arkansas next on Ole Miss' schedule, those four players will be nice and refreshed.
