Homegrown Heroes: Former Springdale Bulldog Damian Williams Producing For Titans

11/15/2011 at 1:46pm

Damian Williams had no idea what coaches’ expectations were when they moved him into the Tennessee Titans’ starting lineup.

“I knew they thought enough of me to put me in there,” Williams recently told The Tennesean. “But at the same time, I’d played sparingly. So it was one of those things where I didn’t know if they expected me to do what he was doing, or just come in and play a different role.”

Whatever the standard, the Springdale High grad and former Razorback/USC Trojan can’t possibly be underperforming at this point. Williams, named a starter after Kenny Britt was injured, is coming off a victory against Carolina in which he had 107 yards and one touchdown on five catches.

Williams, who attended Arkansas’ game at Vanderbilt on Oct. 29, has 23 catches for 300 yards and four touchdowns this season. His totals include 21 catches over the last five games.

“I just go out and give 100 percent every day, and hopefully he keeps calling the ball my way," Williams said following his most recent game.
