A&M 'Never' Wants To Play Razorbacks In Cowboys Stadium Again; Series Likely Done In Dallas

Looks like Texas A&M will get its wish.
Arkansas and the Aggies will "likely" no longer play in Arlington, Texas, at Cowboys Stadium, according to a report in the Houston Chronicle, citing sources who stress “that nothing yet is official.” Here’s more from the article, which said one A&M official “never” wants to play the Razorbacks in Dallas again:
Instead, the former Southwest Conference foes would play a true home-and-home series starting in 2012. One official said since the SEC doesn't allow recruits to be hosted at a neutral site in a conference game, the Cowboys Stadium game "loses its edge" in that regard.
Razorback Coach Bobby Petrino and athletic director Jeff Long have recently stressed they want to continue playing the Aggies in Cowboys Stadium. According to the contract between the schools the penalty for breaking the 10-year deal is $5 million, but now the Aggies and Razorbacks are both members of the SEC.
It is unclear if A&M will have to pay the fee for breaking the contract or if the change in conference affiliation will void the deal. Arkansas won the first three years of the series, which was scheduled to run through 2018.
Long and Petrino have indicated they’d like to keep a presence in Arlington. Arkansas could potentially find another opponent to play in Cowboys Stadium, but the status of the Razorbacks’ future schedules are not official yet.
