Where to begin? Meet up with an Arkansan anywhere — an airport in Alaska, a Caribbean beach, you name it, mention the name of one Houston Dale Nutt and prepare to batten down the hatches. 'Cause a reaction is fixin' to commence.
If ever there was an Outhouse type of year, Houston Nutt, formerly of Little Rock, Fayetteville and Oxford, Miss., surely had it.
The former Ole Miss football coach was let go nine games into the 2011 season after an "underwhelming" 2-10 campaign in which his Rebs set a school record for consecutive SEC losses. (We believe it's at 15 or so.)
His 2011 highlight? Leading the Hogs after a half and losing close. That's Outhouse material, folks. Lowlights included losses to traditional SEC cellar dwellers Vandy (30-7) and Kentucky (30-13), a 27-7 home loss to Louisiana Tech, and a 31-3 debacle in the Egg Bowl, the Rebs' third straight loss to archrival State.
But possibly the worst aspect of the fall for Nutt? That would be the silent vibes of "We told you so" that emanated from across the big river.
