Running back Knile Davis has submitted his name to the NFL Draft advisory board and is mulling his future with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Davis, who sat out this season with an ankle injury, said he’ll evaluate his future based on the feedback he gets and conversations with this family and Coach Bobby Petrino.

“I’ll make a good decision,” Davis told reporters, including KNWA TV, during AT& T Cotton Bowl Media Day.

Petrino said he and Davis have had conversations about the junior’s future. It isn't clear where Davis is rated among prospects, but he has only one full season as a starter and an injury history working against him. When healthy Davis was one of the top running backs in the SEC and country last season. He averaged 101.6 yards per game as a sophomore.

“Obviously Knile would have an opportunity to come out if that’s what he so chooses,” Petrino told reporters in Dallas. “He’s still really determining what he is going to do. Obviously we’d love to have him come back. He’s a guy that would make a huge impact next year.”

Davis, who was injured seven plays into the first full contact work of the preseason, did not practice with the team on Sunday. He worked in jersey and shorts after recently having hardware removed and said he will not participate in Friday’s game against Kansas State.

“I won’t play. I won’t play this week,” Davis said. “I won’t play in the game. I just don’t feel like it’s a good decision to play. I just want to see those guys do good. That’s what it’s all about.”

Arkansas has been successful this season without Davis, who was expected to be the focal point of the offense. He ran for 1,322 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Without Davis the Razorbacks still managed to win 10 games. They did average only 138.1 yards per game on the ground, but enter the game averaging 445.8 yards of total offense.

“One of the things I’m so proud about is our team overcoming that injury,” Petrino said. “We started out in two-a--days and Knile goes down and gets hurt. Our players did a nice job of developing new leadership and covering for him and getting new playmakers so we could make up for his production.”

Notable: Petrino said wide recevier Maudrecus Humphrey and linebacker Jarrett Lake did not make the trip because of eligibility issues.
