Auburn has released former Little Rock Christian standout Michael Dyer.

Michael Dyer will not be returning to Auburn next season.

Citing “a person with knowledge of the situation” the Associated Press is reporting that the Tigers have granted Dyer a scholarship release. Dyer, a Little Rock Christian product, ran for 1,000 yards in his first two seasons and was named all-SEC.

Dyer was suspended indefinitely from Auburn prior to the Chick-fil-A Bowl for violating “unspecified team rules.”

Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn left for the Arkansas State job on Jan. 1. There is speculation that Dyer, the offensive MVP of last year’s national championship game, could join Malzahn, also an Arkansas native, in Jonesboro.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
