Arkansas State linebacker Demario Davis was a late addition to the Senior Bowl roster. He went right to work proving he belonged in Mobile, Ala.
Davis, a two-time all-Sun Belt Conference player, earned nice reviews. He showed speed and power during drills and recovered a fumbled punt during special teams work.
National Football Post dubbed Davis as one of its “favorites” of the week.
Here’s Pro Football Weekly’s assessment of Davis, currently projected as a late-round pick.
Davis caught my eye both on special teams, when he recovered a punt fumbled by N.C. State WR T.J. Graham; and in one-on-one passing drills, where his speed stood out. I asked him for his go-to pass-rushing move. "Speed to power," he said. "They think I'm all speed, and then I hit them with a power move and come back into 'em. They dive, jumping back, and I'm able to get there."
Davis, who ended his career with 230 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks and 4 interceptions, is also among the players that have been invited to the NFL Combine. Also receiving invites to the combine are Arkansas defensive end Jake Bequette and wide receivers Joe Adams and Jarius Wright.
Bequette and Adams are also participating in the Senior Bowl. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Saturday with broadcast on the NFL Network.
