Apparently, you can cross Boise State off the list of potential 12th opponents for Arkansas in 2012.
Broncos Athletic Director Mark Coyle told the Idado Statesman that playing the Razorbacks in Cowboys Stadium is not “on our radar.” Both schools are looking for a final opponent and had been linked together in schedule speculation by fans.
Coyle’s comments about looking for an opponent sound much like those from Arkansas counterpart Jeff Long. Both are finding the prospect of selecting a 12th opponent to be a challenge.
"We're looking at all possibilities. With all this conference realignment, I think you have a lot of programs across the country that still have opportunities for scheduling. With us playing at Hawaii, we get that 13th game opportunity and that's what we're trying to look at and address. ... It's just trying to find the right match and the right fit for everybody."
Long said late last month that the Razorbacks have talked with more than 30 schools about the possibility of playing in 2012. Uncertainty in the conference landscape, including expansion of several leagues and litigation between West Virginia and the Big East, has complicated matters for schools.
