Full-Court Press: UALR 62, Arkansas State 60
Making a last-second dash to the other end, Tramar Sutherland was fouled on a layup attempt with eight-tenths of a second showing on the clock and, after a time out, hit the two foul shots to give UALR a 62-60 win over Arkansas State on Saturday night before a near capacity crowd at the Jack Stephens Center. The win gave UALR the outright Sun Belt West Division championship with 12-4 league mark. read more >

One loss in the Arkansas State personnel department was expected; the other coming two days before an exhibition game was a shock. Fourth-year head basketball coach John Brady knew his Red Wolves would have to find someone to step in for graduated point guard Rashad Allison, but when the coach also gave the preseason heave-ho to star forward Martavius Adams, the Red Wolves had some sudden lineup reshaping to do against a difficult nonconference schedule. read more >

Red Wolves Looking At QB Complements For Aplin After Butterfield Injured

Arkansas State returned a record-setting quarterback for the 2011 season. Still, Coach Hugh Freeze liked what he saw from sophomore Phillip Butterfield to plan packages for him to use at quarterback this season. Freeze will likely have to change those plans after Butterfield injured his knee in a Saturday scrimmage. Early prognosis is that Butterfield suffered a torn ACL. read more >

The players that current Arkansas coach John Pelphrey entrusts his and the program's future will be en masse at one location for all to see when the Arkansas Hoops Challenge is staged Saturday at Little Rock Hall High School. Pelphrey referred to his signees recently as "Triplets 2.0," but there will be plenty of more talent on hand as well. read more >
