Jim's Notebook: Uekman's Friends Plan Benefit 7-on-7 Tournament; Hog NCAA Memories
Little Rock Catholic football coach David Estes and former Rocket Chase Miller are among the people putting together special event to honor a fallen friend: former Rocket and Arkansas Razorback tight end Garrett Uekman. The Garrett Uekman Foundation will be the beneficiary of a 7-on-7 tournament planned in July for War Memorial Stadium. Uekman, a key contributor as a redshirt freshman for the Razorbacks last fall, died the day after the Mississippi State game of an previously undiagnosed heart ailment. read more >

Despite its large student body, Little Rock Central's football team didn't boast big numbers in recent years. The low numbers and a cycle-down in talent led to a losing streak that eventually led Hall of Fame coach Bernie Cox to step down. His replacement, Ellis "Scooter" Register, vowed to hit the high school's hallways and build up the numbers, and apparently has succeeded. read more >
