Jim Harris: Razorbacks Respond In Big Way To Record Crowd For Spring Game

Jim Harris: Razorbacks Respond In Big Way To Record Crowd For Spring Game
Arkansas sophomore cornerback Tevin Mitchel, who wasn't on campus for last year's Razorback spring game, wasn't sure how many fans to expect for Saturday's Red-White clash, but he was hopeful for 20,000, he said late Saturday afternoon. UA senior quarterback Tyler Wilson said he almost felt choked up when he took the field and saw a record spring crowd in the Reynolds Razorback Stadium stands. In maybe the most tumultuous time in Hog football history — with Bobby Petrino suddenly no longer guiding the program and who-knows-who taking over — a crowd of 45,250 fans watched Wilson, Mitchel and the first-team Razorbacks put on a dominating offensive and defensive performance, annihilating the backups 65-0. read more >

Bahn: Replacing Talented Trio Of Receivers Will Be 'Weird' For Petrino, Razorbacks

Bahn: Replacing Talented Trio Of Receivers Will Be 'Weird' For Petrino, Razorbacks
Bobby Petrino will walk out of the Broyles Complex and onto the turf at Reynolds Razorback Stadium today when spring practice begins. Just like always. Unlike the last three spring sessions and four fall camps since 2008, however, Petrino will not see Joe Adams, Greg Childs and Jarius Wright when he looks in the direction of the wide receivers. Petrino expects the process to replace the trio to be a challenge. And, well, weird. read more >

Report Card: Arkansas 31, Vanderbilt 28

Report Card: Arkansas 31, Vanderbilt 28
WHAT WE LEARNED: It's hard to explain how or why this team continues to win games while being outplayed, but a win's a win. Paraphrasing Bill Parcells here: a team is as good/bad as its record indicates. If true, Arkansas is a 7-1 team overall and 3-1 in the tough Southeastern Conference, facing a comfortable position with four games left. Of the final four games, two are in Fayetteville and one in Little Rock. It's beginning to look like BCS is a dream scenario, Capital One a possibility and the Cotton Bowl a solid fallback option. Assuming, of course, the Razorbacks continue avoiding the consequences of their shortcomings. read more >

Jim Harris: Malzahn May Need More Than Mirrors To Conjure Up Enough Offense Against Razorbacks This Time

Jim Harris: Malzahn May Need More Than Mirrors To Conjure Up Enough Offense Against Razorbacks This Time
No way was Auburn keeping Cam Newton from moving on to the NFL after his incredible, Heisman Trophy-winning season last year in taking the Tigers to the national championship. Auburn wasn't keeping defensive tackle Nick Fairley either after his unbelievable breakout year. But one player who could have stayed and didn't would make a lot of difference for Gus Malzahn's Auburn offense post-Newton: wide receiver Darvin Adams. Without Adams this year and with Emory Blake perhaps hobbled for Saturday, Malzahn and the Tigers will have to call upon Little Rock native Michael Dyer for another yeoman effort at running back and hope some precocious freshmen step up at receiver when Arkansas forces the Tigers to pass. read more >
