Razorbacks Return To Top 25, Open SEC Tournament Against Mississippi State
Arkansas heads into the SEC Baseball Tournament with some momentum. Thanks to a three-game sweep at Tennessee the Razorbacks enter with four consecutive victories and the No. 6 overall seed. They'll begin the tournament ranked No. 25 by Baseball America, a week after dropping out of the poll. Arkansas (39-17, 16-14 SEC) opens the tournament on Tuesday against No. 7 seed Mississippi State (34-21, 16-14). read more >

Benton and Bryant have seen some native sons make dramatic rises to the Major League level — Benton's Cliff Lee winning a Cy Young Award and starring most recently for the Philadelphia Phllies, while Bryant's Travis Wood has also found a home in the bigs. It's been a while, however, since Little Rock's youth baseball leagues groomed a player that reached the big time. That time was finally realized last week when Drew Smyly, the former Arkansas Razorback who starred at Little Rock Central High School and before that came though the Little Rock Junior Deputy baseball program, was anointed as the fifth starter on the Detroit Tigers' pitching staff. read more >

Brent Birch: Series Win At LSU Would Be Nice, But Avoiding A Sweep Enough For Razorbacks

Winning a series at LSU is a rarity so Arkansas needs to just scratch out a victory Friday or Saturday and roll the dice Sunday. Another series road victory would be huge in the SEC race. The key thing is to avoid the sweep. No coach would ever publicly admit that but if the worst case scenario for the Hogs is losing 2 of 3 this weekend, Van Horn would take it. Given that home series are coming up against No. 18 Georgia and No. 7 Kentucky at Baum Stadium, the Razorbacks would be sitting fairly well in the chase for the SEC title and eventual high seed in the NCAA tournament. read more >
