A pattern becomes evident with just a quick glance at the brief but illustrious history of the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards. Something's in the water in Greenwood. Daniel Stegall, a former Bulldog quarterback who went on to try professional baseball, was honored as his classification's (4A) player of the year in 2005. Tyler Wilson, who just completed his junior season in leading Arkansas to an 11-2 season, was this year's Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year as chosen by the club. And Drew Morgan, a junior who led Greenwood to yet another Class 5A state crown, was the 5A player of the year. read more >

What kind of college football polling world do we live in now that a No. 3 Arkansas could win Friday at No. 1 LSU and still find itself looking up at both LSU and No. 2 Alabama when the next BCS poll came out? Mark Schlabach, author and ESPN.com columnist, agreed Monday that it doesn't make sense in the way we once viewed college football rankings, but we're in a new day. His fellow ESPN college football writer, Brad Edwards, said as much Sunday that Arkansas could be left out of the BCS mix. read more >

Jim Harris' Notebook: Mangino Ready To Return; Big Week For Central Arkansas

It's easy for fans who don't follow Kansas Jayhawk football closely to forget just how successful Mark Mangino was in building the program before he was controversially shown the door nearly two years ago. When Arkansas upset top-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge 50-48 in three overtimes in the 2007 regular-season finale, Kansas was sitting one slot behind the Tigers at No. 2 and playing Missouri that same weekend. Mangino's Jayhawks lost their only game of the season to Missouri 36-28, but earned a BSC bowl spot anyway and defeated Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl to start 2008. read more >
