The UALR men's basketball team, a 19-point loser to Louisiana-Lafayette just three weeks ago at home, went into the Cajundome on Thursday and shocked the Ragin' Cajuns 72-70 in overtime, extending its winning streak to four games and improving to 9-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. Senior D'Andre Williams led the Trojans (12-13) in scoring for the fifth-straight game with a career-high 24 points to help UALR remain in first place in the West Division. read more >

Ryan Aplin ran for a touchdown and passed for two more as Arkansas State rallied past Louisiana-Lafayette 30-21 in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday. It was the seventh straight victory for the Red Wolves, who maintained control of the conference race. read more >

There is no guarantee of an outright Sun Belt Conference championship for the winner of Saturday's game between Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State. Games remain for both programs and a strong finish will be needed to close out 2011 the way the Ragin' Cajuns and Red Wolves have begun the season. But there is no denying the importance of the contest, which is being billed by many as a de facto conference championship game. read more >

Ryan Aplin's five-touchdown performance at Florida Atlantic was good enough to land him offensive player of the week honors for the Sun Belt Conference. Aplin ran for four touchdowns and threw for another in a 39-21 victory over the Owls in Boca Raton, Fla. Aplin ran for 49 yards and passed for 244. No other player in the Sun Belt Conference has four rushing touchdowns in a game this season. read more >
