Red Wolves' Cory Williamson Qualifies for U.S. Amateur
A senior on the Arkansas State men's golf team, Cory Williamson has qualified to compete at the U.S. Amateur Aug. 22-28 in Erin, Wis., after recently tying for medalist honors at the Mississippi sectional held Aug. 1-2.

Jim's Notebook: Tiger, Hire Me; A Nicklaus With a State Championship, Nichols Earns U.S. Amateur Spot
Tiger Woods said Tuesday morning in a press conference before his return to competitive golf that he's had a few actual Tour caddies inquire about his current opening for permanent looper. But, as for non-Tour folks checking about the job, he said that numbers "a lot." I haven't sent in a resume, which would be short in the caddying end anyway, but I'm stating my case: Tiger, hire me, even just for one major.

Carpenter, Cook Fail to Advance to Match Play in U.S. Amateur Golf Championship
Alex Carpenter was in good shape to advance to match play in the U.S. Open after one day of qualifying, but then he ran into the acclaimed Chambers Bay links on Tuesday and now is headed home.
