Josh Alberius knew he had no place to hide, feeling worse than anyone in War Memorial Stadium after an interception of his pass set up Maumelle for the go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter. But Alberius rallied his Little Rock Christian squad, covering 61 yards in just under 3 minutes and scoring with 35 seconds left on a fourth-down, 7-yard toss to Will Duncan for a 28-24 win Tuesday in the Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic. read more >

Understandably, Central Arkansas Christian Coach Tommy Shoemaker is hoping for a low-scoring game when his Mustangs open the season on Monday against Pulaski Academy. "Low scoring and controlling the ball," he said. His Mustangs last year were one of 14 Pulaski Academy opponents who couldn't keep up when a football game broke out into a track meet, and Shoemaker knows a wide-open game favors talented Pulaski Academy again this year in the Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic. read more >
