Arkansas' new defensive coordinator, Paul Haynes, can count on a long honeymoon with Razorback fans — at least through next September — thanks to the way the Hogs' defense handled Kansas State in a 29-16 win in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Friday night at Cowboys Stadium. Arkansas took care of its biggest concern — dealing with hard-running KSU quarterback Collin Klein — by holding Klein to 42 yards rushing on 24 carries, a 1.8 yards-per-carry average. Klein had 29 yards in losses on six sacks. The Hogs held KSU to 87 yards rushing on 40 attempts and 260 total yards. read more >

One of the problems with the Arkansas defense, and by no means is it the lone issue, is that the state simply doesn't produce very many SEC-type defenders. Arkansas doesn't produce a large number of SEC recruits as it is, but when you start narrowing it down to defensive recruits the pickings are even slimmer. read more >

Defensive coordinator Willy Robinson didn't have all his options on the field during Tuesday's practice, particularly in the secondary. Cornerback Darius Winston was missing. Cornerback Isaac Madison and safety Elton Ford only participated in part of practice. There were also absences on the defensive line. It was a rough day for Robinson and the players who got more snaps than usual. read more >

Arkansas placed four players on the Southeastern Conference's 2010 all-freshmen team. Offensive linemen Alvin Bailey and Travis Swanson made the list along with kicker Zach Hocker and defensive lineman Byran Jones. Former Little Rock Christian tailback Michael Dyer was also part of the squad following his season at Auburn. read more >
